the jugface guy is pretty cool looking.

did you tell me if there was a date set for thomas construction
to come for the windows?

took the bikes in today. left both of them and they said they
would be ready july 2nd. um, wow, okay. kinda long for just
a brake adjustment. they suggested i purchase some gear lube.
i'll be using matt's orange bike for the time being.

took a sweet tray of veggies, fruit, cheese, crackers, salami and
such over to matt's tonight. hes having people over tomorrow.
hopefully i wont get off work too late to join in.

saturday is my monster day... 8:30am to probably 1:30am.

last night i dreamed about catching two spiders. i caught one of
them in a little ziplock kinda bag. it was a flying fluorescent spider,
then i put that bag in another bag and caught the 2nd spider. i saw
gracie walking around and she stepped on the bag-in-a-bag. she got
bit and i knew it was gonna happen and she was not looking good..
and i wanted to get her help. thats all i remember.

not only was i late on the gas and phone bill... i got an email that said
i was late on my cell phone bill... what the eff... they didnt send me the normal
monthly notice i think.

i have an appointment with jessica's dentist on monday. hope it doesnt
kill me. i mean my wallet. hahhahah.  heh.

i took a picture of a dead squirrel. i'll try to play with it in PS and make it
look good.

when ive been riding my bike the past couple weeks ive thought about how
in that motorcycle doc, they said you get more of a feeling for the places
you ride through when youre on a motorcycle than a car. and i think about
that and look at the places im passing and think, yes, if i was in a car, i wouldnt
notice half these places. and wouldnt get the smells, and feel the road beneath my
tires and feel the sweat and enjoy the fact that im working hard to get places
i want to go. i have begun to keep a log of my miles each week on a calender.

ive had thoughts about possibilities with the trash art show... of course they involve
photography.

i should end this now. even though im super tired and pretty random, im gonna work
on one of the final project things for my visual comm class now...  im gonna send it to
you to get your input.

hope you are doing fine. any fun plans this weekend?
love,chris

so ive been back in korea for eight days now. the feeling of people and places here being so familiar has not left me. ive had a chance to walk most of the nearby streets and the places i visited often. some great little places are of course gone, (the turnover rate for little restaurants and shops can be incredibly quick) but there are some favorites still here.

ive visited "A+", which is a little convenience store. there is a lady who is known as 'smiley lady' to myself and a few friends. she is still smiling and gave me an extra long hand shake when i stopped in. another place i visited often was the kodak store. the same man is working there and i stopped in to say hi and let him know id have film for him soon. ive been eating a lot locally and some of those food pics are up in my album. its never ending really with the choices of soups, meats, and vegetable dishes to choose from. last night was my first visit back to the meat buffet. shoes off at the door, grab a cushion for the floor, and soon the workers will be putting the hot coals under the grill in the middle of each table. grab some plates, fill them up with the many choices of raw meats from the cooler and start grilling. chicken, many beefs, eel, and even octopus. fabulous stuff.

one thing i enjoy about korea is the communal aspect of sharing meals together. in general, going out to eat or eating a meal together with someone can bring along feelings of being close with someone, getting to know them more, and enjoying their company along with good food. often in korea, this is taken to another level. its quite normal for friends to order a few main dishes and all dig in on each other's food as well as sharing all the small dishes that normally come along with the meals. theres something about sitting down together, sharing stories, thoughts, and even food from the same plate. maybe it could be considered gross in other cultures, but i think its special. i think for this reason eating together in korea is often geared even more towards sharing and bringing people together, and enjoying the food with great company.

ive also been able to visit another place i have from time to time wished i could visit while being back in the states. the bathhouse. yes, its feared by some and makes others cringe. but i indeed enjoy a nice soak along with friends. im not sure how much to go into here as some might find it too much information. but it is indeed an interesting place that would never fly in the states, but until you try it out, i suggest not instantly wrinkling up your nose at the thought of it. id like to explain more about it, but will (for now) spare those who think its icky and strange.

quality friends are not always easy to come by. the kind of friends with whom you can share your thoughts without worrying about them thinking youre an idiot or looking down on you. people you can get into discussions with about relationships, faith or the lack thereof, wonderings, hard times, good times, mistakes... someone who listens and shares at a similar level. ive really enjoyed the time ive gotten here like this. do you have someone like this in your life? i really hope so~ if not, seek it out. and strive to be such a person.

signing out for now. im fighting my eyelids. my right one is winning.

i hope gracie the cat is being fed at home...

adios amigos. or i mean 안녕, 내 친구들

back to the land where....

*i'm taller than almost everyone else
*attendants pump gas for every car and no tips are expected
*duct tape's most common color is green
*its totally acceptable for men to carry man-purses.
*pickled, peppered cabbage is consumed on a daily basis
*you visit restaurants at which you take your shoes off at the door,
sit on the floor, and cook your meat at a grill in the table

yes, after a year and half i have returned to my familiar neighborhood in daejeon, south korea. i spent over 5 years here and its such a bizarre feeling to be back. after waking my from my first night here i walked to school on the streets had become so normal. the cars and motorbikes whizzing by, the random smells, and the little stores of all kinds. it was almost kind of a high feeling as i took it all in. as ive gotten to see all the familiar faces of friends and students, it feels as if i havent been gone but a couple months at most. my korean language has kept up pretty well. it has been surprising on a couple occasions that the words are there, ready for access~

sorry, my friend just showed up with my favorite type of ramen...  catch you later ^^

Halt dich an deiner Liebe fest

Wenn niemand bei dir ist
Und du denkst, dass keiner dich sucht
Du hast die Reise ins Jenseits
Vielleicht schon gebucht
Und all die Lügen
Geben dir den Rest

Halt dich an deiner Liebe fest
Halt dich an deiner Liebe fest

Wenn der Frühling kommt
Und deine Seele brennt
Du wachst nachts auf aus deinen Träumen
Aber da ist keiner, der bei dir pennt
Und der, auf den du wartest
Dich sitzen lässt

Halt dich an deiner Liebe fest
Halt dich an deiner Liebe fest

Wenn der Novemberwind
Deine Hoffnung verweht
Du bist so müde, so müde
Und du weißt nicht, wie’s weitergeht
Wenn dein kaltes Bett
Dich nicht schlafen lässt

Halt dich an deiner Liebe fest
Halt dich fest
An deiner Liebe
